Norton AntiVirus
Norton AntiVirus did not like ratrabbit.nl
When I publicised my tennis-scheduler, one of my tennis mates wanted to use it, but had to tell me that Norton AntiVirus procuced a large warning window with red background, stating that ratrabbit.nl is potentially unsafe to use.
Of course, I did not recommend to ignore that warning, after all she did not pay for the antivirus software to ignore it's recommendations.
BTW: Other antivirus software packages do not warn against usage of ratrabbit.nl.
I tried to convince Norton that ratrabbit.nl is safe
I went to the website safeweb, filled in the url ratrabbit.nl and the form and waited a week without getting a response.
So, I filled the form again, but on submission, I got the message that the "dispute" was already going on.
Still, ratrabbit.nl was "unsafe" for Norton AntiVirus users.
I visited safeweb again
Date original visit: Mon Sep 16 16:36:48 2024 +0200.
Date is now Sat Aug 8 04:04:29 AM CEST 2026. Got still no answer from Norton antivirus.
I visited safeweb again, and lo and behold, ratrabbit.nl is now labelled as "safe".
Conclusion
I understand that false positives are inevitable sometimes, but it is a pity that a well-known antivirus software supplier does not react by email to forms filled in on a page that specifically is designed to give feed-back.
The reason why Norton AntiVirus ratrabbit.nl labelled as "unsafe" is a mystery to me.
Other websites will suffer from the same problem, so users will tend to ignore the warning from Norton AntiVirus, thereby exposing themselves to some risk.
